‏2013-12-02T14:41:31Z |

Hi.

We have some trouble to install DB/2 10.5.1 on Windows Server 2012 R2

I guess it is the same issue as installing it on Windows 8.1, i saw in other topics

The Installer starts, there are some directories created, then the Installer crashs

10.5 does not yet officially support Windows 2012 R2. See Software Product Compatibility Reports for DB2 10.5 WSE.

You can generate this report anytime by from the operating systems for a specific product page.

I get the same problem when trying to install 10.5.1 on Windows 2012 Server R2. Please see log below, 'Misslyckades' is Swedish for failed.

Now, Windows 2012 Server R2 is a major platform, released 6 months ago. And DB2 is still not compatible?

I have used DB2 for twelve years, having installed it on numerous versions of Windows. Many times I've run into trouble, permanent or with workarounds, with installations ending in cryptic error messages. So what does '1603' stand for?

I believe the complicated, error prone installation of DB2 scares off a lot of people. This is not rocket science. I think it's high time that IBM make an effort to create a simple, clear and robust routine for installing DB2.

    Best regards, Carl Z

    Hi all.

I have had  the same issue.

I have solved the problem installing DB2 10.5 in a workgroup windows server 2012 r2.
After installing it, you can activate AD or join an DC.

It seems that the problem is in Active diretcory or Domain controller.

P.S. Remember to finish installation and complete it with fixpack before joining a DC.

IBM says that support for 2012R2 & 8.1 will be available in the next fixpaks for 9.7, 10.1, & 10.5 - unfortunately the next fixpak for 10.5 is not due until near the end of the year. Hopefully they will also post a new Express-C version at that fixpak level...

Thank you for the suggestion of installing before joining the Windows machine to the domain.  I haven't tried that yet, but I did find another workaround (based on a forum posting I found) - run a silent install using a response file created on another system that is supported (in my case, I used win2012 non-R2, but I believe I could have generated it on 2008R2, Win7, etc). The command line to run a silent install is setup -u PROD_EXPC.rsp -l setup.log.   See http://www.starquest.com/Supportdocs/techSQDRPlus/PL015_SQDRPlus_DB2.shtml#win2012R2.
