Pinned topic [V7000U] Does Cluster IP failover automatically by disconnecting two 1Gb Ethernet cables of ethX0 on Active management node

‏2013-07-12T04:17:01Z |

The build is 1.4.0.4-4.

One customer would like to check the result by doing a testing to disconnecting two 1Gb Ethernet cables of ethX0 on active management node.

He expects the cluster IP failover to another node, but it is not, the management service is still on the cable pull node. The cluster didn't failove to another node .

We told him it is as design. He doesn't believe it and want to get the official customer material to prove it.

Does anyone can tell me if it is as design and where can find this type of material to make customer believe it? Thanks.

Its be design. There is redundance build into the management ports (2 ports are bonded) - so you need more than 1 error to Loose management access. (unless you foolishly cabled both to the same switch)

You can add more management ip's on the 10G ports if you want even more redundancy than that.

You can see some info on this in the Redbook (but far from what you ask for)

    http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redbooks/SG248010/wwhelp/wwhimpl/java/html/wwhelp.htm

    Section 10.6 LAN considerations.
