Need education on IBM PureApplication System, but not sure where to find it? WebSphere Education has two courses (and one on the way) to meet your needs.
For those of you that want a technical introduction to PureApplication System, consider ZU906: IBM PureApplication System V1.0 Technical Overview - Early Education. This self-paced virtual course can be taken at your convenience. This course introduces you to the features and capabilities of PureApplication System. The course explains the initial configuration steps that are needed to run workloads. The workload and system aspects of the console are discussed. PureApplication System is heavily pattern-based, so the course introduces the three deployment models: custom images, virtual systems, and virtual applications. You learn the basic steps to build and deploy a virtual system pattern and a virtual application pattern. Recorded lectures and demonstrations are provided throughout this one-day course.
Are you are developer or administrator and already familiar with the basics? If so, then consider WU907: Pattern Deployment with IBM PureApplication System V1.0 - Early Education. This three-day, hands-on instructor lead course dives into the details of developing and deploying patterns. The course introduces the three deployment models: custom images, virtual systems, and virtual applications. You learn the procedures to build and deploy a database pattern, a virtual application pattern, and a virtual system pattern. You use the IBM Image Construction and Composition Tool to create custom images. You also use the command-line interface to develop and deploy virtual system patterns. Lastly, you learn about the monitoring capabilities of IBM PureApplication System. Exercises are provided throughout the course, providing you hands-on experience with a remote PureApplication System to apply concepts that are described during lectures.
In June 2013, WebSphere Education will release WU908: Managing IBM PureApplication System V1.0 Resources - Early Education. This two-day, hands on instructor lead course will cover managing both system and workload resources. Stay tuned to this blog for further updates on this course and its release date.
