Tivoli Access Manager (TAM) provides you an authentication and authorisation framework, for controlling access to information and resources. Depending on the resources you want to protect, you select a Resource Manager. TAM along with the Resource Manager secures resources in your organisation.
If you want protect Web Resources, Tivoli Access Manager for e-business(TAMeb), popularly known as WebSEAL, is the Resource Manager you'd use. I've seen many people using the acronym TAM to refer to WebSEAL as well. Being a part of the IBM Support Team for TAM(eb)/TAMOS (and TAM-ESSO to some extent), I've come to accept this.
