Issue with LOGINTRACKING for Maximo 7.5
Hello All My name is Joe Delaney and I work in the System Support group L2 for Maximo Support . I recently came across an issue with Maximo version 7.5.0.3 that I thought I would share . I had a client that had an issue with logintracking . The issue is below . The LOGINTRACKING data in our Production environment is showing records created with TIMEOUT entry though the users are logging out of the application. In an ideal scenario, the entry should be created as LOGOUT... [More]

Is this a System, Set, Organization or Site level record?
Sometimes you are working with records in Maximo and you are not aware whether Maximo requires to associate a SITEID information or ORGID information, thus you get confused and would like to know what records in Maximo are considered to be level specific. For example, you have in a work order an asset record associated, which is a site-level record, and at the same time there is a job plan associated, which is a system-level record. Finally the work order record is a site-level record. So... how do you get a list or information about the... [More]

Is there a way to know how many records are affected by a status change?
Just a heads up, regarding this case where you would like to see a count of records that will be affected by status changes displayed when performing a status change, the standard Maximo functionality does offer the above in one scenario but not in all of them. In Maximo 7 versions this is not included, as per product design, as the change status information comes from the class files, where you may not be able to modify the information. When the information is coming from the mbo's, this will not be possible without the java... [More]

Is there a newer version of the Maximo Interim Fix I'm about to apply?
Ever wondered if the Interim Fix you were sent for a specific APAR a while back and that you didn't get the chance to apply on your Maximo environment, is still up-to-date? Since those are cumulative, it might be worth applying the latest version and therefore include the more recent APAR fixes delivered for that specific fixpack level. You might therefore want to check out the " Maximo Interim Fixes " blog on IBM DeveloperWorks: https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/connect/maximoifix You can find the latest Interim Fixes that were... Is MS Office 2016 supported with Maximo?
We have had some customers ask if MS Office 2016 supported with Maximo 7.5.x and 7.6.x? . Short answer, MS Office 2016 is currently not supported as it has not been fully tested with Maximo. However, if you really still want to use MS Office 2016, you will notice some of the functions in Maximo such as the download list will not work nicely and not allow you to open it like previously. You may get errors like this, when trying to open the downloaded list from Maximo in Excel.. This is because with MS office 2016, a feature called Extension... [More]

Is it safe to have multiple LAFIXes in a Maximo environment?
Have you asked yourself whether it is safe or not to have multiple LAFIXes in a Maximo environment ? Well.... In response to your inquiry, here is an explanation that I believe will help. My answer to you is Yes, there is a way to get individual fixes (aka LAFIXes) , however we do not recommend it, and I will explain why. The LAFix: Limited Availability Fix - is a one-off hotfix containing a fix for ONE specific APAR, it is an unofficial way to deliver emergency fixes for severe product issues that cannot be delayed until the next... Is it safe to delete entries from the TASKSCHEDULER table ?
Have you experienced a scenario where some crontasks or escalations do not appear to be running, while other records are running normally? There are multiple reasons why an escalation is not firing correctly. Before checking anything else, verify the cron task settings for this particular crontask from under Configuration > Cron Task Setup, and check the value for 'Schedule' field. Schedule is what governs the frequency of the cron task. Besides this, you could check which process is kicking off this escalation process. Could... [More]

Is it possible to store Anywhere attachments on SDCARD ?
Recently a customer inquired whether he can set the SD card as the path to store Attachments, rather than the system path. The customer was using a Android Mobile device and had followed the IBM Knowledge Center documentation at: Maximo Anywhere -> Maximo Anywhere 7.5.2 -> Configuring Maximo Anywhere -> Attachments properties http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSPJLC_7.5.2/com.ibm.si.mpl.doc_7.5.2/configure/r_attachments_download.html There was no...
