I have a pretty basic question here that I am 99% sure of the answer....but I thought this would be the best place to pose it, as support does not consider it a technical question, and have been getting a bit of the runaround attempting to get the definitive answer, and they don't seem to be able to track down my account rep.
When our company had our Netezza installed (our primary system is an N2002-005 "Half Rack") I asked the installer and one of the techs at the time, "what happens when we fill it up and hit capacity" I was still VERY new to the technology then, but had been reading up on the basic design, and even then I realized that you simply don't just "plug in another SPA". Their response at the time was "forklift upgrade" in other words the half rack would need to be replaced with a larger unit or units.
So the question is.....when the Netezza reaches full capacity (and there is no data that can be purged) it basically needs to be replaced with a larger unit correct? and has anyone gone through this process? does IBM give credit for the old unit against the cost of the new unit, or do you put it on Ebay LOL
Thanks in advance for any help/feedback....
