Enhanced Integration between ITCAM for SOA and WebSphere Service Registry and Repository (WSRR)

ITCAM for SOA version 7.1.1 Fix Pack 3 adds enhanced integration with WebSphere Service Registry and Repository (WSRR). A series of viewlets is now available in the Tivoli Media Gallery that illustrate how ITCAM for SOA and WSRR interact in defining situations, and in communicating with each other when a situation is triggered, modified, or closed.
Using WSRR, you can set up Service Level Definitions (SLD) for individual services within your SOA environment. The SLD in the WSRR governance enablement profile provides a formal specification of the required interaction with a provided service. The SLD also includes non-functional characteristics related to the interaction, such as the service level agreement policies.
ITCAM for SOA will monitor conditions that the service must meet, such as response time, based on these policies. To achieve this result, ITCAM for SOA maintains one or several situations for every SLD to be monitored. If any policy defined in the SLD is breached, a situation is triggered. When this happens, IBM Tivoli Monitoring can notify users and execute actions such as scripts.
This series of viewlets illustrates a simple example of the key steps the user must complete to make use of this enhanced integration function. Note that before you can take advantage of this function, you must install or upgrade your ITCAM for SOA installation to version 7.1.1 Fix Pack 3 or later, and you must complete the installation and configuration steps described in the WSRR Integration Guide, provided with Fix Pack 3, to set up your monitoring envronment.
