Catalog Integration with VPC Custom Images

ISV Partners and IBM Cloud customers can now import custom Virtual Private Cloud images directly to their account/enterprise or sell on the IBM Cloud Catalog without the dependency on Terraform.

Sharing images to your IBM Cloud account or enterprise 

With IBM Cloud® enterprises, you can centrally manage billing and resource usage across multiple accounts. Now, you can upload VPC images to your private catalog and then easily share those custom images to all of the accounts or a subset of accounts associated with the enterprise.

This new integration is especially beneficial to customers in the financial service industry or any customer that utilizes multiple accounts within an enterprise, saving you time and simplifying the process to update custom images and share them using private catalogs. 

To share an image to your enterprise, complete the following steps: 

  1.  Create a custom image and import it to a private catalog. 
  2.  Configure and validate the image. 
  3.  Share the image to the enterprise or a subset of accounts associated to the enterprise. 
  4.  Navigate to the IBM Cloud catalog and select your private catalog from the catalog drop-down menu. 
  5.  Select your image and deploy instances using that shared image.

Sell on the IBM Cloud catalog

Onboarding custom VPC images into your private catalog provides the ability to share those custom images with other accounts or all IBM Cloud users. Currently, you can offer your images for free or require users to bring their own license. Go to Partner Center Sell to begin registering your product to sell on IBM Cloud.

To make your image available to all users in the IBM Cloud catalog, complete the following steps: 

  1. Navigate to Partner Center Sell and register as a Partner.
  2. Provide your product information, such as a name, short description and support information. 
  3. Import your image.
  4. Configure and validate the image.
  5. Request approval to publish the image to all users.
  6. Publish your image.
