Professor, West University of Timisoara
Dr. Marc Frincu is an associate professor at the Department of Computer Science within the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at West University of Timisoara. Prior to having this position he was a postdoctoral research associate at University of Southern California working on smart grid and cloud computing topics, and a postdoctoral researcher at University of Strasbourg dealing with resource management on cloud systems. He has published over 70 research papers in journals and conferences being an active member of the research community where he acts as student mentor, reviewer for conferences, journals and funding agencies, and guest editor to various journal special issues. He is an IEEE senior member and has received an Outstanding Researcher Award from the University Horizons organization in Timisoara for his scientific achievements in 2015.
At UVT he has established the Cloud Enhancing Research Group on Big Data and Applications (CER) where he advises students on emerging topics related to clouds, Big Data, and IoT. In 2014 he co-initiated the International Workshop on Scalable Computing for Real-Time Big Data Applications (SCRAMBL). Apart from research and teaching activities he is actively involved in attracting funds from national and international agencies as well as promoting industrial transfer and research collaborations.
