Summary of Changes for Accessibility Checklist

The accessibility checklists and techniques are reviewed on an ongoing basis and updated to address new requirements identified during the review or to address new accessibility regulations and legislation. The purpose of this document is to track the changes made for each checklist update.

Oct. 26, 2017 7.0 Reworded short descriptions for 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks, 2.4.5 Multiple Ways, 3.2.3 Consistent Navigation and 3.2.4 Consistent Navigation, to match verbatim descriptions in WCAG. Previously adapted based on WCAG2ICT.
July 25, 2017 7.0 Addition of 7 new checkpoints to the EN 301 549 Additional Requirements section, covering ICT with Video Capabilities.
July 18, 2017 7.0 Minor changes to checklist introduction text to indicate the official July 18 date of adoption has taken place.
June 13, 2017 7.0 Reformatted checklist and checkpoints to match IBM's current v18 publishing standard. Extensive editorial changes for readability and accuracy throughout checkpoints.
May 8, 2017 7.0 Added checkpoints for non-web software, authoring tools and documentation to Software 6.1, and released as 7.0 to align with the Revised Section 508 Standards. Added additional EN 301 549 checkpoints in order to accurately report new European requirements. Removed legacy Section 508 checkpoints no longer required.
August 25, 2016  6.1 Publication of version 6.1 of the IBM Accessibility Checklist for Web and Web-Based Documentation.
August 2, 2016 6.1 Added 5.8 Text legacy checkpoint to IBM Accessibility Checklist for Software, and removed qualifiying text from Interoperability checkpoint 502.3.6 Text.
Removed July 2016 optional dates for CI162 compliance from a number of the new WCAG and Interoperability checkpoints.
Added links to WCAG Common Failures in the General techniques section of most checkpoints.
