Configuring the ITCAM Agent for WebSphere DataPower Appliance on Linux and UNIX systems

You can create or update an agent instance and add an appliance on Linux or UNIX systems.

Before you begin

Complete the following installation tasks:

About this task

Configure ITCAM Agent for WebSphere DataPower Appliance so that it can monitor your IBM WebSphere DataPower appliances. Appliances are monitored by instances of the ITCAM Agent for WebSphere DataPower Appliance component.
Restriction: Do not add more than 10 appliances to each instance.

Procedure

To configure the ITCAM Agent for WebSphere DataPower Appliance, complete the following steps:

  1. Go to the following directory:
    <itm_home>/bin
  2. Run the following command:
    ./itmcmd config -A bn
  3. You are asked to enter a name for the instance of the ITCAM Agent for WebSphere DataPower Appliance appliance. Each instance of the agent communicates with one or more appliances.
    • To reconfigure an existing instance, enter the name of the instance.
    • To create a new instance, enter a new name.
  4. You are asked if you want to edit ITCAM Agent for WebSphere DataPower Appliance settings. Type 1, press Enter.
  5. One by one, a number of settings are displayed. To accept the default settings, press Enter until you see the following message: Edit ’DataPower Appliances’ settings.
  6. Choose one of the following options:
    • To add an IBM WebSphere DataPower XC10 Appliance appliance only, type 5, press Enter.
    • To add an IBM WebSphere DataPower appliance (except IBM WebSphere DataPower XC10 Appliance), type 1, press Enter. Complete the following steps:
      1. Enter a display name for the appliance.
      2. Enter a host name for the appliance.
      3. Enter the XML management interface port number.
      4. Enter the appliance administration user name.
      5. Enter the appliance administration password.
      6. Accept the defaults for System Log and SSL Proxy Profile.
      7. To add another IBM WebSphere DataPower appliance, type 1, press Enter. Otherwise, type 5, press Enter.
  7. You see the following message: Edit ’DataPower XC10 Appliances’ settings. Choose one of the following options:
    • If you do not want to add any further IBM WebSphere DataPower appliances, type 5, press Enter.
    • To add an IBM WebSphere DataPower XC10 Appliance appliance, type 1, press Enter. Complete the following steps:
      1. Enter a display name for the appliance.
      2. Enter the SNMP version.
      3. Enter a host name for the appliance.
      4. Enter the SNMP port number.
      5. Enter the SNMP Community.
      6. To add another IBM WebSphere DataPower XC10 Appliance appliance, type 1, press Enter. Otherwise, type 5, press Enter.
  8. Accept the defaults for the remaining options.

Results

The ITCAM Agent for WebSphere DataPower Appliance is configured.
