Applying service to the IBM Integration administration feature: Windows, Linux, and UNIX

Learn about how to use IBM® Installation Manager to apply service to IBM Integration Administration for WebSphere® Application Server.

If you are installing the administration feature for the first time, you must retrieve the base feature repository file and add it to the IBM Installation Manager repository list. See Installing the IBM Integration feature: Windows, Linux, and UNIX.

You can apply service at the same time as you install the feature, or on a later occasion. You can apply local updates by using either the live update facility or a repository update file on your local system.

To update the administration feature, complete the following steps:

  1. Decide whether you want to retrieve the repository update file and perform a local update or perform a live update from a remote location. Add one or both packages to the IBM Installation Manager repositories list.
    • If you want to perform a live update, add the original installation repository to the IBM Installation Manager repository list and select the Search service repositories during installation and updates check box.
    • If you want to install the latest updates, but you do not want IBM Installation Manager to retrieve them automatically from a remote location, then clear the Search service repositories during installation and updates check box and locate or retrieve the update file supplied with your installation.

The name of the repository update file is wmb.admin.repository_updates.zip. You can find the file at the following location:

      • On Windows: install_dir\tools\wmb.admin.repository_updates.zip
      • On Linux, UNIX, and z/OS®: install_dir/tools/wmb.admin.repository_updates.zip
Ensure that the new repository is selected in the repository list.
  2. On the main IBM Installation Manager panel, click Update.
  3. On the Update Packages panel, select the package group that you want to update; IBM WebSphere Application Server VX.x, where X.x is the product version. Click Next.
  4. Select the feature versions that you want to install and click Next.
  5. On the Licenses panel, review and accept the product license. Click I accept the terms in the license agreement. Click Next.
  6. If you see a message about running processes that might interfere with the current operation, you must stop the processes before the installation can continue.
  7. On the Summary panel, review the installation summary and click Update to start the installation.
  8. Review the installation log and make note of the details of the manageprofiles command that is displayed in this panel.
Note: After you click Finish, use the manageprofiles command to augment your WebSphere Application Server profile; see Configuring IBM Integration Administration for WebSphere Application Server.
  9. Click Finish.
