Upgrading your IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office installation

If you are running IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office and you upgrade your IBM Content Navigator, you must also upgrade your IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office installation.

Before you begin

IBM Content Navigator and IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office must be running at the same version, release, and modification levels. For more information, see Prerequisites for installing IBM Content Navigator.

In addition, if you are upgrading your IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office installation and you plan to connect to IBM Content Manager repositories, it is recommended that you complete the following tasks before you upgrade your deployment of IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office:

Mapping Microsoft Office properties to repository properties. Complete this task if you plan to map Microsoft Office properties to your IBM Content Manager repository properties.
Configuring desktops for Microsoft Office. Complete this task if you want to override the default behavior of IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office.

About this task

To upgrade IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office on client machines, you can either create a silent upgrade that you deploy to the client machines or you can deploy the upgrade program to the client machines and have your users upgrade the software interactively.

You must decide how to upgrade IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office on your client machines. For example, you can:

Push a silent upgrade of IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office to your client machines
Create a batch executable file that includes the silent upgrade command and instruct your users to download the executable file from a URL
Instruct your users to download the IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office upgrade program and provide them with the information that they need to connect to IBM Content Navigator
