Configuring JAAS authentication on your web application server

IBM Content Navigator uses Java™ Authentication and Authorization Service (JAAS) to authenticate users’ login credentials. You must configure your web application server to use JAAS authentication (also called container login).

Before you begin

This task assumes that you have a configuration profile open in the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool.

About this task

If you use IBM Content Navigator to access IBM Content Manager Enterprise Edition or IBM Content Manager OnDemand repositories, JAAS authentication is used to determine whether a user is an administrative user.

If you use IBM Content Navigator to access IBM FileNet® P8 repositories, JAAS authentication is used to:
  • Determine whether a user is an administrative user
  • Authenticate to the LDAP server

Procedure

To configure JAAS authentication on your web application server:

  1. Open the following task in your configuration profile: Configure JAAS Authentication on Your Web Application .
  2. Complete the task by using the values that you entered in the Worksheet for configuring JAAS authentication on your web application server.
  3. Click Next to run the task.

If you are manually running the tasks in the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool, you can take one of the following actions:

    • Click Run Task to run the task now. This option is recommended because it makes it easier to troubleshoot and resolve problems if they occur.
    • Wait until all of the tasks are complete and then click Run All Tasks to run all of the tasks that are required to configure and deploy the web application.
