Use this procedure to install the InfoSphere® MDM
Inspector data
stewardship application. This web application supports data governance
for virtual MDM data.
Before you begin
Make sure that you meet these prerequisites:
- Your environment meets the hardware and software requirements
for this component
- You completed the IBM® Installation
Manager preparation
steps
- You reviewed and completed the MDM user applications installation
worksheet
- IBM WebSphere® Application Server is
installed and running
- If you are upgrading from an earlier version of the application
and have custom settings in your property files, make a copy of the
files.
About this task
You have two options available for installation: Install
or Modify. The Install option assumes that you are installing the
application on a clean server or workstation. That means that the
server or workstation does not have any InfoSphere MDM components
that are already installed (for example the MDM operational server,
database component, or another user application). If any MDM components
are present on the machine on which you are installing the application,
you must use the Modify option.
Procedure
- Start IBM Installation
Manager.
- On the IBM Installation
Manager home
panel, select Install or Modify.
- If you selected Install, complete
these steps.
- On the Install Packages panel,
select the InfoSphere MDM offering
and click Next.
- Continue through the panels to accept the license agreement,
select the installation directory, and the language.
- On the Install Packages panel,
select Inspector. Click Next.
- Enter the configuration information for the application.
Use the MDM user applications worksheet as a guideline.
- Review the installation summary information and click Install.
- If you selected Modify, complete
these steps.
- On the Modify Packages panel, select
the InfoSphere MDM package
and click Next.
- Select the language and click Next.
- On the Modify Packages panel, select Inspector.
Previously installed components are automatically selected. Make sure
that they remain selected, otherwise IBM Installation
Manager removes
them. Click Next.
- Enter the configuration information for the application.
Use the MDM user applications worksheet as a guideline. Click Next.
- Review the summary information and verify that the component
that you want to install is listed in the Adding Features box
and that no components are listed in the Removing Features box.
Click Modify.
- Click Finish when the installation
is complete and close IBM Installation
Manager.
- Go to IBM WebSphere Application Server administrative
console and verify that the application is deployed to the server
specified during installation.
Results
The installer updates the inspector.properties file
with the host name, port, and valid user name and password that you
provided on the configuration panel and deploys the Inspector EAR
to the target application server. During deployment, the application
server unpacks the EAR content into an installed apps directory. For
example, WAS_PROFILE_HOME/installedApps/$cell_name/inspector.ear.
