Creating the WSRR database from scripts you have created

Use these instructions if you decide to create the WSRR database manually by running scripts that you have edited. You must create the database manually if using a remote database or if deploying to a federated server or cluster.

About this task

attention You must create the database using the UTF-8 code set. No other code sets will function correctly.

Websphere Service Registry and Repository provides default scripts that you can use to create the WSRR database manually. You can create the database before or after installation of WSRR.

If you are installing WSRR to a stand-alone profile with a local database, you can create the WSRR database automatically during installation. However, you might want to create the database manually if your organization requires that the database be created by a user with DBA privileges.

Procedure

  1. Go to the directory that contains the database creation scripts. The scripts are located both on the product media and in a directory after product installation. By default, the scripts are located in the following directories:
    • Location on the product media:
      • For Unix operating systemFor Linux operating system <media_root>/dbscripts or <extract_directory>/dbscripts/WSRR
      • For Windows operating system <media_root>\dbscripts or <extract_directory>\dbscripts
    • Location after installation:
      • For Linux operating systemFor Unix operating system install_root/WSRR/dbscripts
      • For Windows operating system install_root\WSRR\dbscripts
  2. Open the directory containing the WSRR database scripts for your database product. The default location depends on the platform. See the following table for the directory names for each database type. If you are creating a remote database, then you must copy the directory to the remote computer and run the scripts there.
Table 1. Applicable database types and their directory names
Database type Directory name Corresponding subtopic
DB2 Universal Database™ (for all operating systems except z/OS®) db2 Creating the DB2 database
    DB2® for z/OS db2_zos Creating the DB2 for z/OS database
Oracle oracle Creating the Oracle database
Microsoft SQL Server sqlserver Creating the Microsoft SQL Server database
  3. Click the corresponding subtopic link in Table 1 to proceed with creating the WSRR database manually.
