Coexisting with other WebSphere product installations

An installation of WSRR version 8.5 can coexist on the same system with certain versions of selected WebSphere® products.

You can install WSRR on top of the following products, in the same directory:

WSRR can co-exist with other WebSphere products provided that they are installed in different directories, and that there are no port conflicts.

When configuring coexistence, you must address any port conflicts that occur to avoid communication errors. For information about port number settings, see Port number settings in WebSphere Application Server versions.

Each version of the server must have a distinct database.

Do not confuse coexistence with migration, or updating:

Migration is copying the configuration from a previous release of WSRR into a new release. If you are installing WSRR version 8.5 on a system that already has a prior version of WSRR installed and you intend to migrate to the newer version of WSRR, see Migrating to WSRR for more information.
Updating is replacing out-of-date files or data of an existing installation with current information. Refresh packs, interim fixes, and fix packs are examples of updates.
