Installing WebSphere Service Registry and Repository
Installing IBM® WebSphere Service Registry and Repository (WSRR) involves preparation to ensure that your system meets prerequisite requirements for installing the software. For instructions on installing WSRR on a Linux, UNIX, or Windows systems, see the subtopics in the following list.
For an example of a cluster installation, see Cluster installation sample.
- Dynamic installation guide
- Installation overview
Installing and configuring WSRR is a multistep process that requires you to plan and make decisions before you start to install. Use the guidance here to help you make these decisions. - Evaluation installation
The quickest way of getting started with WSRR is to use an evaluation installation. - WSRR: Product package contents
This topic provides details of the contents available in the WSRR media packs and downloadable electronic installation images. - Preparing to install WSRR
The following topics explain various aspects to consider before you start installing WSRR. - Installing the software
You can obtain WSRR product files in two ways, from the disks in the product package or by downloading installation images from the Passport Advantage® site, if you are licensed to do so. You install the software interactively from the launchpad program or silently by running Installation Manager in silent installation mode. In silent mode, the installation wizard does not display a graphical interface, but reads your responses from a response file. - Installing WSRR to an IBM Integration Designer unit test environment
You can install WSRR into an IBM Integration Designer v8.5 unit test environment. - Coexisting with other WebSphere product installations
An installation of WSRR version 8.5 can coexist on the same system with certain versions of selected WebSphere® products. - Configuring WebSphere Application Server profiles
There are three types of profiles: a stand-alone server profile, a deployment manager profile (a management profile with a deployment manager server), and a custom profile (managed node). Each profile defines a separate runtime environment, with separate files (commands, configuration files, and log files). - Creating and configuring the WSRR database
Use the instructions in these topics to configure and customize the database you plan to use with your WSRR. Configuring the database includes creating a database, setting up the database privileges, optimizing the performance of a database and configuring the database to avoid deadlocks. - Switching to Java 7.0 SDK in WebSphere Application Server
You can switch from Java 6.0 to Java 7.0. - Post installation tasks
This topic describes tasks to be completed after you have installed and deployed WSRR. - Installing fix packs
You install a fix pack for WSRR by using IBM Installation Manager. - Removing fix packs
You can remove a WSRR fix pack by using the rollback option in IBM Installation Manager. - Uninstalling the software
You uninstall WSRR using the Installation Manager. If you plan to reinstall WSRR to the same directory, complete the manual steps to ensure that all files and registry entries are deleted. - Troubleshooting installation and configuration
You can diagnose problems when the installation and configuration of WSRR is unsuccessful. - Installing and configuring the Eclipse plug-ins
Two Eclipse plug-ins are provided with WSRR, the Eclipse user interface and the reporting plug-in. These plug-ins are already installed in the WSRR Studio application. However, if you do not want to use the additional configuration profile management and UML modelling features provided by WSRR Studio, you can add the plug-ins to your own installed version of Eclipse.
