Evaluation installation

The quickest way of getting started with WSRR is to use an evaluation installation.

Evaluation installation completes the following tasks:

On Windows and Linux (Intel), the WSRR 8.5 eImage comes in two parts (labelled part 1 and part 2). You must extract the two parts into the same directory before running the installer.

Note: Evaluation installation is supported only on Windows and Linux. To install WSRR on Solaris or AIX, you must select Custom install after starting the launchpad. See Custom installation. To install on Linux, you must first prepare your system, see Preparing Linux systems for installation.

To complete an evaluation installation, complete the following steps:

  1. Start the launchpad.
Note: If you want to use the embedded DB2 Express database on Microsoft Windows Server 2008 or 2012, then you must run the launchpad as a local system administrator. You must also use elevated administrative privileges. On Linux, run the launchpad as root.
  2. Select Evaluation installation.
  3. Specify a host name and installation directory (or accept the default), and the password to use for WebSphere Application Server and DB2 Express user IDs. Click Next.
Note: If you want to use the embedded DB2 Express database, then the password that you specify must comply with any local security policies regarding password complexity or length.
  4. Select whether to use an embedded DB2 Express database (Windows and only), or to use an existing database and click Next.
Note: You cannot install DB2 Express if you already have DB2 installed.
  5. If using an existing database, select the database type and specify the database settings. Click Next.
  6. Indicate that you have read and accept the license agreement. Click Install.
  7. After the installation is complete, make a note of the information displayed for future reference (this information includes user names and passwords).

You can now start and configure the dashboard, see Starting the dashboard.
