About this task
If the system you are upgrading from has not previously had
IBM Content Search Services installed on it, you
must do an installation of
IBM Content Search Services.
If you are upgrading a system where
IBM Legacy Content Search
Engine was previously installed
and you do not need to do content-based retrievals immediately after
the upgrade, you must do an installation of
IBM Content Search Services and disable
IBM Legacy Content Search
Engine before you start
Content Platform Engine. If you are upgrading
a system where
IBM Legacy Content Search
Engine was
previously installed and you want your system to retain the ability
to do content-based searches immediately after the upgrade, you must migrate
IBM Legacy Content Search
Engine to
IBM Content Search Services on version 5.1 before
you upgrade.
Important: If you must migrate IBM Legacy Content Search
Engine to IBM Content Search Services and your system uses IBM Content Collector or IBM eDiscovery Manager, be sure to contact IBM Software
Support for Content Collector or eDiscovery Manager migration assistance.
Run the
IBM Content Search Services upgrade
procedures on all of the machines that are running
IBM Content Search Services software.
Important: In a multiple server configuration, stop all instances
of the IBM Content Search Services servers
that need to be upgraded.
You can upgrade IBM Content Search Services interactively or silently
by using the information from the Installation and Upgrade Worksheet that was completed
during your planning activities. If IBM Content Search Services is not installed on your
system, see the IBM Content Search Services topics
in the documentation for installation procedures.
