IBM FileNet P8, Version 5.2.1

Updating the base documentation URL for the FileNet P8 domain

When you create a FileNet® domain, you must specify the base URL for the FileNet P8 documentation. The base URL identifies the base web address for the FileNet P8 documentation website and tells the various FileNet P8 applications where to start looking for the context-sensitive help topic. If you later change the URL to the documentation, you must update the base documentation URL for each FileNet P8 domain.

About this task

You can link to IBM® Knowledge Center online documentation on www.ibm.com or to a local information center that you install and deploy. Internet access is required for the online documentation. For more information, see Installing IBM FileNet P8 Platform documentation.

Procedure

To update the base URL for the FileNet P8 documentation for a domain:

  1. In the administration console, select the domain.
  2. In the General tab, update the base documentation URL.
    • To link to the online documentation, use the following base URL:

      http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSNW2F_5.2.1/

    • To link to a local information center, enter the base URL in the following format:

      http://server-name[:port]/application-name/topic/

      where:
      server-name
The name of the server where the FileNet P8 information center is installed.
      port
      The optional port number.
      application-name
The name of the deployed FileNet P8 documentation application. If you installed a local information center, the application name is typically p8docs.

What to do next

Some FileNet P8 applications do not use the base documentation URL that is set for the domain. For the following applications, update the base documentation URL in the application preferences or options.

  • FileNet Deployment Manager. For information about setting the base URL for FileNet Deployment Manager, see the section on setting the base help location in Setting FileNet Deployment Manager preferences.
  • Federation Administration. For information about setting the base URL for the Federation Administration application, see the section on federation configuration parameter settings in General configuration.
  • Content Consistency Checker. This tool includes an option to set a default base documentation URL that is used until the user selects a domain. For information about setting the default base documentation URL, see Setting Content Consistency Checker options.
  • Configuration Manager.
  • Process Task Manager on the Process Simulator server. For information about setting the base URL for Process Task Manager, see the section on setting the base help location in Reconfiguring the base documentation URL for Process Simulator.
  • Workplace XT: For information about setting the documentation server site preference for Workplace XT, see Preference settings.
  • Workplace: For information about setting the documentation server site preference for Workplace, see Preference settings.
