Configuring the IBM Cloud Product Insights service

Configure the Product Insights service in IBM® Cloud, to enable it to receive startup and usage information about IBM Integration Bus integration servers.

Before you begin

Create an account in IBM Cloud. In the IBM Cloud welcome page, click Create an account and follow the instructions. For more information, see Signing up for IBM Cloud.

About this task

IBM Cloud Product Insights is a service that is part of IBM Cloud. Ensure that your version (and fix-pack level) of IBM Integration Bus is compatible with the level of the Product Insights service before you enable IBM Integration Bus to connect to it.

For more information about Product Insights, see IBM Cloud Product Insights overview.

Procedure

Complete the following steps to configure an instance of the Product Insights service in IBM Cloud:

  1. Login to your IBM Cloud account by clicking Log In in the IBM Cloud welcome page.
  2. When you are prompted to create a space for your organization, enter your organization name and then click Create.
For more information about organizations and spaces, see the IBM Cloud documentation.
  3. Create your instance of the Product Insights service:
    1. In the menu bar at the top of the IBM Cloud user interface, click Catalog.
    2. Scroll to the Integrate section, and click the Product Insights tile.
The service details page is displayed, showing details of the free service. Default names are supplied, which you can change if you want to.
    3. Click Create.
      Your service is now available.

For more information about creating an instance of a Product Insights service, see the IBM Cloud Product Insights documentation.

  4. Click your new service tile to open it.
The service dashboard is shown, containing the following tabs:
    • Getting started
    • Manage
    • Service credentials
    • Connections.
  5. Click the Service Credentials tab, and then click Create Credentials.
The same credentials can be shared across multiple products, so it is not necessary to create a new one for each product.
  6. Click View Credentials for your new service, to show the API host and the API key that will be used for the connection to your IBM Integration Bus integration servers.
  7. Optional: Copy the API host URL from the Service Credentials tab, so that you can paste it into the -j (API host) parameter of the mqsichangebluemixreporting command when you configure your IBM Integration Bus integration servers.
Alternatively, you can use the Parameters form on the Manage tab to help you create the command, by following these steps:
    1. Click the Manage tab.
    2. Click Register a product and then select IBM Integration Bus.
    3. In the Parameters form, enter the parameters that you want to use in the command. The format of the command is created dynamically in the adjoining pane, as you enter the parameters into the form. You can then copy it and paste it when you want to run the command.
  8. Optional: Copy the API key from the Service Credentials tab, so that you can paste it into the -k (API key) parameter of the mqsichangebluemixreporting command when you configure your IBM Integration Bus integration servers.

Alternatively, you can use the Parameters form on the Manage tab to help you create the command, as described in the previous step.
