Reporting startup and usage information to IBM Cloud Product Insights

IBM® Integration Bus provides a facility to connect to IBM Cloud Product Insights, and to report startup and usage information for your integration servers to the service.

About this task

IBM Cloud Product Insights is a service that is part of IBM Cloud. Ensure that your version (and fix- pack level) of IBM Integration Bus is compatible with the level of the Product Insights service before you enable IBM Integration Bus to connect to it.

The Product Insights service enables you to connect your on-premise installation of IBM Integration Bus to IBM Cloud, and report startup and usage information about your integration servers to the service. You can choose to send startup and usage information for a specified integration server, or for all integration servers on a specified integration node. You can then use a dashboard to display the usage information for all your integration servers across multiple integration nodes, including the CPU time, resident set size, and the number of active CPUs for each integration server.

For more information about Product Insights, see IBM Cloud Product Insights overview.

Procedure

Complete the following steps to enable your IBM Integration Bus integration servers to report startup and usage information to the Product Insights service:

  1. Create an account in IBM Cloud.
In the IBM Cloud welcome page, click Create an account and follow the instructions. For more information, see Signing up for IBM Cloud.
  2. Configure your instance of the Product Insights service, as described in Configuring the IBM Cloud Product Insights service.
  3. Use the mqsichangebluemixreporting command to configure a specific integration server, or all integration servers in a specified integration node, to send startup and usage information to the Product Insights service.
For information about how to complete this step, see Configuring an integration server to send startup and usage information to IBM Cloud Product Insights.
Optionally, you can configure your integration servers to connect to Product Insights through an HTTP proxy server or through the IBM Cloud Product Insights gateway. For information about connecting through a proxy server or gateway, see the following topics:

You can use the mqsireportbluemixreporting command to view the current startup and reporting configuration for the integration server. For more information, see mqsireportbluemixreporting command.

What to do next

View the startup and usage information for all your integration servers in your IBM Cloud dashboard, as described in Viewing integration server startup and usage information in IBM Cloud.
