Integrating services in the web Process Designer
Services provide functions for a business process, which itself is a sequence of services. You can discover and use external services in web Process Designer. You can also expose IBM® BPM applications so that they can be launched by a web service.

Learn about the types of IBM® BPM services that can be modeled in the web Process Designer. - Creating a service flow
A service flow is a sequence of services, gateways, and events. The Service Flow editor palette provides you with the tools to develop a simple or complex service flow that you can then use in your processes. - External services
An external service calls an application or service on a system that is external to IBM Business Process Manager. IBM Process Designer provides a discovery mechanism to find the service or application that you want, select the operations that you want, and generate the external service. Many types of services are available, such as a Java service, a web service, a REST service, or an external implementation. - Invoking a REST service
Discover a REST service from a local OpenAPI specification (formerly known as Swagger) and generate an external service based on the discovered REST service. You can then use the external service in a service flow to invoke the REST service. 
Invoking web services in the web Process Designer
You can discover a web service that is hosted on an external system, and use a service task in a service flow to invoke the web service.- Invoking a Java service
To call a Java service, you can discover a Java class and generate an external service. You can then use the external service in a service flow to call the Java service. - Invoking an external application
You can use an external implementation service when you want a step in your process to be handled by an application outside of IBM Business Process Manager. For example, you created your own user interface for your users that you would prefer to use instead of IBM Process Portal. So you create an external implementation service to call your own interface. - Converting heritage services
Services in previous releases were created with the desktop Process Designer. These heritage services can be converted into service flows that can be modeled in the web Process Designer. - Calling an IBM BPM application by using a web service
You can create a web service in IBM Business Process Manager that you expose to exterior systems so that they can access functionality in an IBM BPM application.
