Configuring the IBM Content Navigator web client

After you install and deploy IBM® Content Navigator, you must configure the web client. At a minimum, you must define desktops and configure connections to your content management repositories to enable users to access content through the web client.

About this task

You can use the IBM Content Navigator administration tool to connect to repositories and to control how the IBM Content Navigator web client behaves. You can access the administration tool from the web client.

Use the IBM Content Navigator administration tool to:
  • Add administrator users so that those users can see the administration tool, configure connections to repositories, and define desktops for users
  • Configure connections to the repositories that you want to access when you use IBM Content Navigator
  • Define the desktops in your web application server so that users can access the web client
  • Create custom menus to control which actions are available to users
  • Map icons that represent specific MIME types and the states in which an item might be in, such as checked out or on hold
  • Specify which viewer is used to display each file type
  • Configure plug-ins that extend the functionality of IBM Content Navigator
  • Enable error logging
  • Customize the text that is displayed in the interface
