Installing extra software into an existing Eclipse workbench

You can install extra software components into an existing Eclipse workbench by using the WebSphere® Software Installer Wizard (Help > Install WebSphere Software). The software that is listed in the Installer Wizard comes from the WebSphere Application Server Developer Tools for Eclipse update sites and the Eclipse Marketplace.

Before you begin

Connect your computer to the internet.

Install WebSphere Application Server Developer Tools for Eclipse. For more information, see Installing and updating into an existing Eclipse workbench.

Your Eclipse workbench must be one of the following versions of Eclipse IDE for Java™ EE Developers.
Note: Eclipse Oxygen is available for fix pack 17.0.0.2 and later.

About this task

You can install extra software components by accessing the software from the WebSphere Software Installer wizard.

Procedure

  1. Start your Eclipse workbench with WebSphere Application Developer tools for Eclipse installed.
  2. Locate the installation options by clicking Help > Install WebSphere Software.
  3. On the Confirm Selected Features page, expand the parent nodes and select the features that you want to install. When you are finished, click Confirm.
  4. On the Review Licenses page, review the license text. If you agree to the terms, click I accept the terms of the license agreement and then click Finish. The installation process starts.
    Note: During the installation, a Security Warning dialog box might open and display the following message:
    Warning: You are installing software that contains unsigned content. The authenticity or validity of this software cannot be established. Do you want to continue with the installation?
    Click OK to continue.
  5. When the installation process completes, restart the workbench.
