Applying fix pack by using Installation Manager silent mode

You can update Jazz™ for Service Management Version 1.1 or a later fix pack to Jazz for Service Management 3.1.2.1 by using Installation Manager silent mode.

Before you begin

You can install Jazz for Service Management server in this existing Jazz for Service Management environment.

Ensure that you have updated the Jazz for Service Management extension for IBM® WebSphere®. See Updating the WebSphere security extension by using Installation Manager GUI mode or Updating the WebSphere security extension by using Installation Manager silent mode.

About this task

Table 1 lists the update response files for an existing installation with either a full application server profile or a Liberty profile.

Procedure

  1. Repeat this procedure on each machine on which the following integration services are installed:
    • Administration Services Version 1.1, IBM Dashboard Application Services Hub Version 3.1, Registry Services Version 1.1, and Security Services Version 1.1.
    • Administration Services Version 1.1.0.1, IBM Dashboard Application Services Hub Version 3.1.0.1, Registry Services Version 1.1.0.1, and Security Services Version 1.1.0.1.
    • Administration Services Version 1.1.0.2, IBM Dashboard Application Services Hub Version 3.1.0.2, Registry Services Version 1.1.0.2, and Security Services Version 1.1.0.2.
    • Administration Services Version 1.1.1, IBM Dashboard Application Services Hub Version 3.1.1, Registry Services Version 1.1.1, Security Services Version 1.1.1 and Tivoli® Common Reporting Version 3.1.1
    • Administration Services Version 1.1.2, IBM Dashboard Application Services Hub Version 3.1.2, Registry Services Version 1.1.2, Reporting Services 3.1.2, and Security Services Version 1.1.2
    • Administration Services Version 1.1.2.1, IBM Dashboard Application Services Hub Version 3.1.2.1, Registry Services Version 1.1.2.1, Reporting Services 3.1.2.1, and Security Services Version 1.1.2.1
  2. Browse to the location of the fix pack response files.
    • JazzSM_Image_Home/responsefiles/platform_name directory, after you obtained Jazz for Service Management Version 3.1.2.1 release installation media on DVDs or from IBM Passport Advantage®
    • JazzSM_FP_Home/responsefiles/platform_name directory, after you obtained the delta package from IBM Fix Central.

    platform_name is the name of the supported platform, that is, unix or windows

  3. Make a backup of the update response file, for example, update_jazzsm_was_fullprofile_FP3_response.xml.
  4. Run the Installation Manager utility to encrypt the passwords for the administrator users as required.

    1. Open a command window, and change to the Installation_Manager_Home/eclipse/tools directory, where Installation_Manager_Home refers to the installation root directory for Installation Manager.
    2. Run the following command for your platform to generate an encrypted password:

    3. Copy the output for use in the silent response file.
  5. Open the response file, edit it for the following parameters, and save the file.

    Attention: When you update from Version 1.1, ensure that you comment out the Reporting Services environment offering element, com.ibm.tivoli.tacct.psc.install.reporting.services.
  6. Open a command window, and change to the Installation_Manager_Home/eclipse/tools directory, where Installation_Manager_Home refers to the installation root directory for Installation Manager.
  7. Run the following command for your platform to silently install Jazz for Service Management Version 3.1.2.1:
    • AIX operating systemsLinux operating systemLinux on System z operating systems
      ./imcl input path_response_file -log path_log_file -acceptLicense
    • Windows operating systems
      imcl.exe input path_response_file -log path_log_file -acceptLicense
    • path_response_file refers to the path and response file name.
    • path_log_file refers to the path and file name for the silent installation log file.
