Rolling back environments

After migrating to a WebSphere® Application Server Version 8.5 environment, you can roll back to a Version 6.1 or later environment. This returns the configuration to the state that it was in before migration. After rolling back the environment, you can restart the migration process.

About this task

Supported configurations:

This topic is about configuration migration, such as migrating deployment managers and federated nodes in a network deployment environment. The Application Migration Toolkit for WebSphere Application Server provides support for migrating applications from previous versions of WebSphere Application Server to the latest product version. For information about migrating applications, read more about the Migration Toolkit.

Generally, migration does not modify anything in the configuration of the prior release; however, there are cases where minimal changes are made that are reversible.

Procedure

  • To roll back a Version 8.5 deployment manager and its federated nodes to Version 6.1 or later, follow the instructions in Rolling back a WebSphere Application Server, Network Deployment cell.
  • To roll back a Version 8.5 federated node to Version 6.1 or later, follow the instructions in Rolling back a federated node.
  • To roll back a Version 8.5 stand-alone application server to Version 6.1 or later, follow the instructions in Rolling back stand-alone application servers.

Results

The configuration should be returned to the state that it was in before migration.

What to do next

Restart the migration process if needed.
