IMS Mobile Feature Pack (z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition)
The IMS™ Mobile Feature Pack for IBM® z/OS® Connect Enterprise Edition (z/OS Connect EE, PID: 5655-CEE) provides a solution to create RESTful mobile services and defining APIs for these services to access IMS transactions. The IMS Mobile Feature Pack component is now included in z/OS Connect EE V2.0.5 (APAR PI70432) or later as the IMS service provider, which significantly simplifies the installation process.
z/OS Connect EE is designed to provide a fast, secure, reliable connector to reach any z/OS asset by using Representational State Transfer (REST) calls with the support for defining and deploying the RESTful APIs. A deployment artifact, referred to as an API package, is generated by an Eclipse-based API editor, the z/OS Connect EE API Editor. The generated API package includes Swagger 2.0 standard description and can be deployed to the z/OS Connect EE run time as a z/OS-based RESTful API. The API contains documentation that instructs application developers how to consume the API. The z/OS Connect EE API Editor includes an HTTP-to-JSON mapping capability for transforming JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) messages to the required format of the z/OS subsystems.
The API is in a standard format for use by cloud and web-based applications to reach virtually any z/OS assets, applications, and data. z/OS Connect EE manages the connection to the z/OS assets and any required data transformation, allowing you to consolidate multiple client connection pathways into a single common gateway to reach business assets on z/OS operating systems, including CICS®, IMS™, and classic batch environments. The API can be integrated with IBM API Connect for enterprise-class API management that covers consumer registration, API security controls, and version control.
Tooling support for modeling, creating, testing, and managing services for your IMS services is provided through IMS Explorer for Development V3.2.1 or later.
