WebSphere Sensor Events

To implement sensor solutions within business networks, you can use WebSphere® Sensor Events, which is a server-based product that system integrators use. When integrated with WebSphere Sensor Events, IBM® Business Monitor can provide the essential information that helps identify and correct business performance problems within a business network.

A sensor solution for improving asset management and inventory processes could be the implementation of tag reader devices that use radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. In this example, the WebSphere Sensor Events server would manage the RFID information and events and then share the data with other applications.

How it works

From tag-read events, WebSphere Sensor Events version 7.0 generates common base event XML, which can be consumed by IBM Business Monitor. The common base event XML is published to service integration bus (SIBus) topics or sensor server output channels. The event carries tag-read and associated asset information.

WebSphere Sensor Events will use task agents, or Reusable Components, to send tag-read events to IBM Business Monitor. Using the WebSphere Sensor Events Administrative Console, an application developer can modify a Reusable Component to enable or disable the generation of common base event XML that can be consumed by IBM Business Monitor.

IBM Business Monitor users will be able to create and view event reports from the Monitor dashboard space or WebSphere Portal dashboards.

WebSphere Sensor Events users can use WebSphere MQ as the transport to deliver events to IBM Business Monitor.

WebSphere Sensor Events version 7.0 base and toolkit products provide a sample monitor model that demonstrates the IBM Business Monitor integration capabilities and can be extended and customized for your business situations.
