Securing the IBM Control Center root passphrase with a user key

IBM® Control Center configuration includes different types of passwords, such as IBM Control Center user password, database connection password, and monitored server password. Each of these passwords is encrypted with a root passphrase that is uniquely generated for each installation.

By default, the IBM Control Center passphrase is secured by a system key. Alternatively, you can secure the root passphrase with a user-defined key, or a user key.

If the user key is enabled, you are required to enter the user key every time when you start an IBM Control Center event processor, stop the event processor through the command line, or run the data collector.
