Abstract

IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator for z/OS - recommended maintenance level of IBM InfoSphere Change Data Capture for z/OS (CDC)

IBM InfoSphere Change Data Capture for z/OS (CDC) is included in the IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator product package.

The following CDC PTFs are recommended for the incremental update function:

IBM InfoSphere Change Data Capture for z/OS
IBM InfoSphere Change Data Capture for z/OS 
(delivered with IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator for z/OS, V5, V7.1, and V7.5)
Attention:
If you are currently running Db2 Analytics Accelerator for z/OS V5 with CDC-based replication and want to upgrade to V7 also using CDC, you don't need to upgrade the Capture Agent unless you are hitting issues.

(1) Enable CDC for z/OS with DB2 12
(2) Required for the HTAP feature
(3) Is succeeded by PTF UI68657 for APAR PH23207

(4) PTF UI66475 implemented logic that changed the Sockets API being used by IIDR CDC for z/OS.  Previously the Communications Server Sockets API was being used, PTF UI66475 changed the product to use the Language Environment Sockets API.  This required changes in the sample JCL supplied with the product, notably the CHCPROC JCL that is used to execute IIDR CDC for z/OS.  PTF UI66475 did not include a "++HOLD" information to describe the changed sample JCL and the importance of modifying the actual JCL to conform with the changed samples. Fixing is covered by PH25370.

(5) UI68657 cures impacts caused with UI67626. If you have installed UI67626, upgrade to UI68657.

(6) Required for Db12 function level 504 or higher

(7) UI77850 supersedes the following PTFs:

  • UI72532 (PH18599)
  • UI74183 (PH34307)
  • UI75290 (PH36417)
  • UI79237 (PH43751)

(8) UI80064 is needed to support Db2 13 for z/OS;
After applying UI80064 issues have been reported in case the "LogDataCache" has been disabled. These issues are covered by UI80254 (PH45728), UI80476 (PH44886), and UI82336 (PH47809).
