Financial Industry Business Ontology (FIBO) is a joint effort by the Object Management Group (OMG) and the Enterprise Data Management (EDM) Council. FIBO is an industry initiative to define financial industry terms, definitions and synonyms using semantic web principles such as RDF/OWL and widely adopted OMG modeling standards such as UML.
FIBO aims to:
- Contribute to transparency in the global financial system
- Aid industry firms in providing a cost-effective means for integrating disparate technical systems and message formats
- Aid in regulatory reporting by providing clear and unambiguous meaning of data from authoritative sources
The FIBO ontology of Business Entities has been incorporated into the data warehouse models as Supportive Content.
This spreadsheet is an extract of the Supportive Content and how they relate to the Business Terms and Atomic Data Warehouse Model. The scope of Business Entities is all terms relating to and descriptive and/or definitive of a range of business entities and legal entities that are considered by financial industry firms, regulators and other industry participants to be of relevance in the financial services domain.
Each concept in this domain has been mapped to both its FSDM and AWM equivalent content, enabling the user to understand how each FIBO concept is supported by the data warehouse.
