JR43742: Column Analysis performance is impacted when Virtual Column has "," or "." or "-" or "/" or ":" or "" as field separator

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When using ".", "-" or "/" under "Field Separator" when creating
  a new Virtual Columns, the column analysis will slow down.  User
  is requesting a pop up window at the time of changing the "Field
  Separator" field that says: "It is recommended NOT to use this
  type of separator as it can be confused with a timestamp field
  and it will slow down the column analysis", or similar.
  

Local fix

• Fix provided in rollup_RU11_IA_ALL_8502,
  rollup_RU12_IA_ALL_8503, rollup_RU7_IA_ALL_8702
  

Problem summary

• Information Analyzer 85 FP2 customer reported that, Column
  Analysis job takes very long time on a virtual Column composed
  of numeric fields separated by '.', '/', '-', ':', or ' '.
  

Problem conclusion

• APAR JR43742 is created to address this issue.
  Fix for APAR JR43742 is available on 8502 Rollup Patch 10.
