Abstract

This page describes the minimum system requirements to operate IBM Datacap Taskmaster Capture Version 8.0.1. Any configuration that exceeds these minimum requirements will result in better performance.

Important:
Because other products frequently ship fixes, updates, and new releases, testing every configuration is not possible. In general, you can install and run with updates to supported products if those updates are forward compatible.

Additional comments

  • The Rulerunner station provides all unattended processing, including document identification, recognition, image processing, and export of data.
  • Taskmaster Web Verification stations require Internet Explorer 6.0 or later.
  • Network is assumed to be Ethernet with TCP/IP running Microsoft file servers.

Hardware considerations

  • A file server is required to store the images and intermediate processing files.
  • The Taskmaster Server can be the same computer as the file server.
  • Additional hard disk storage is required for images.
  • Storage space needed depends on the image size and volume.
  • The Taskmaster Web Server can run on the same computer as Taskmaster Server in a secure configuration (Intranet, VPN, and so on).

  • ISIS drivers are supported with IBM Taskmaster Capture thick clients.
  • TWAIN drivers are used for Taskmaster Web Capture remote scan clients (thin clients).
  • Kofax VRS v. 4.50.032 is supported with some scanners. The Kofax VRS Scanner Configuration Utility displays the supported scanners in the "Available image devices" list. To enable support, users must select "Kofax VRS Scanner" in the iScan task setup window in the Taskmaster thick client Workflow tab.
  • For some scanners, customers need to obtain the scanner driver from the vendor or from the scanner manufacturer.

The Taskmaster Web client is supported on Windows Internet Explorer versions 7.0, 8.0, and 9.0.

Taskmaster 8.0.1 supports these file formats:

Taskmaster Admin and Engine Database support

  • Support is provided to the OLEDB level.
  • IBM Datacap Taskmaster Capture is independent of the platform where the database server is installed (for example, Oracle 11 on Linux). Datacap Taskmaster supports a database to the extent that there is an OLEDB client for the platform.
  • In a production environment, the two primary Taskmaster databases (Admin and Engine) can reside in either Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle.
  • SQL Server Express and other versions of SQL Server and Oracle are generally compatible with Taskmaster 8.0.1.
  • Taskmaster does not require a dedicated database server or instance; a departmental or enterprise database server can be used.
  • IBM Datacap Taskmaster Capture ships with Microsoft Jet databases for the sample application and the Datacap Studio Application Wizard in "Create new application" mode. You can view and modify these databases by using Microsoft Access.
  • Database support includes the Taskmaster Fingerprint database.

Export databases

  • Support is provided to the ODBC level.
  • If the required ODBC drivers are installed, customers can immediately use the ExportDB actions library to export data to a database.
  • In addition, the Export actions library exports captured data to a text file, and the ExportXML actions library exports data to an XML file.
  • Customers can use the Lookup actions library to validate data. Some Lookup actions are tied to fields in the Verify interface.

Important: The MTOM connector requires that these prerequisites are installed on the IBM Taskmaster client station:
  • IBM Datacap Taskmaster Version 8.0.1
  • FileNet P8 Content Engine Version 4.5.0, 4.5.1, 5.0, 5.1, or 5.2 where IBM FileNet Content Manager is supported.
    • Run the FileNet Content Engine server installation program to install the desired version of the Content Engine client files.
    • The version of the Content Engine client must match the version of the Content Engine server.
    • When you run the installer, select the FileNet.NET API.

Identity servers (LDAP and AD)

  • LDAP: Sun Directory Services 5.x
  • AD: Any Windows Active Directory version on any supported platform. Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) on Windows 2003 and Windows XP.

 

Fax and email servers

The connectors to Fax servers and email servers are available as add-ons. The following servers are supported:

  • Inbound Fax: OpenText Right Fax 9.x
  • Inbound email: MS-Exchange 2010 and IMAP
  • Outbound email: SMTP

Collocation with IBM FileNet Capture 5.2.1

Datacap Taskmaster 8.0.1 and FileNet Capture 5.2.1 can be collocated on the same MS-Windows workstation for scanning. However, both applications cannot communicate with the same scanner at the same time.
