What to know before you begin

Their are two online tools available:

Passport Advantage Online is designed to support the Passport Advantage Program for both Passport Advantage & Passport Advantage Express Customers & IBM Business Partners. To access Passport Advantage Online visit: http://www.ibm.com/software/passportadvantage and select either the "For customers" or "For business partners" tab followed by the appropriate "sign in" button.

Software and services online is designed to support those IBM Software and services customers that participate in offerings such as IBM OEM offering, IBM Prepackaged Services & IBM Software obtained outside of the Passport Advantage and Passport Advantage Express offerings.

To access the Software and services online visit: www.ibm.com/software/howtobuy/softwareandservices and select "Customer sign in".

Both Passport Advantage Online and the Software and services online allows your organization to define roles and manage access privileges for multiple users on an individual basis. Both online tools require an IBM ID and password to access your secure experience. The process for obtaining an IBM ID and password is explained below.

Each Site has a Primary Contact. The Primary Contact is responsible for authorizing additional user access; therefore, the Primary Contact must first register and authorize for Passport Advantage Online or Software and services online.

The IBM ID that each user creates must be authorized to access either Passport Advantage Online or the Software and services online. The Primary Contact's IBM ID is authorized through the registration and authorization process described below.

If you are the Primary Contact please read the section entitled Registration and Authorization process for the Primary Contact.

If you are not the Primary Contact, please read the section entitled, Registration and Authorization process for additional users.

Obtaining an IBM ID and password

If you have already created your IBM ID and password elsewhere on https:// www.ibm.com, they are valid here. If you do not already have an IBM ID and password, you can create them as part of the registration process described below. Please retain for your IBM ID and password future use.

Registration and Authorization process for the Primary Contact

If you have completed the Passport Advantage Enrollment Form online, you have already registered and authorized your IBM ID and password. Please proceed to sign in. Otherwise please review the registration and authorization options below.

Registration and Authorization process for additional users

If you already have an IBM ID and password created elsewhere on www.ibm.com, please proceed to Passport Advantage Online at: http://www.ibm.com/software/passportadvantage and select either the "For customers" or "For business partners" tab followed by the appropriate "sign in" button.

For customers and partners participating in other Software & services offerings, please proceed to www.ibm.com/software/howtobuy/softwareandservices and select "Customer sign in."

If you have not been authorized to access either Passport Advantage Online or the Software and services online by your Primary Contact, you will be sent to the Self-nomination screen and will be prompted to enter your customer information and submit your self-nomination request. This request will be routed to your Primary Contact for review. You will receive an email notification from the Primary Contact when your self-nomination request has been processed.

Self-nomination and managing access privileges - Primary Contact

The Primary Contact for your site is responsible for granting and managing access privileges. There are two user access levels:

The steps for the Primary Contact to process self-nomination requests and managing access privileges are:

Sign into Passport Advantage Online or Software and services online (depending on program offering) and select "Account Management" then "Manage access".

Select a name from the "Notified users and self nomination requests" section and approve or deny each access request, or proceed to step (2b) to add a user.

2b.

Select "Add a user now" link from the manage access page to add an individual's access privileges to Passport Advantage Online or the Software and services online without a self-nomination request by entering the user's IBM ID and email address.

Access privileges granted are effective immediately.

Revoking access privileges - Primary Contact

The Primary Contact or Secondary Contacts may edit or revoke access privileges.

  1. Sign into Passport Advantage Online or Software and services online (depending on program offering) and select "Account Management" then "Manage access".
  2. Select the link for the IBM ID associated with the user to be edited from the "Manage access" page.
  3. The user's profile is displayed. Edit as necessary and submit. Or choose the delete button to revoke user access.
  4. Access privilege changes are effective immediately.
