Use WebSphere Application Server on the cloud. WebSphere Application Server is a Java EE 5 certified, EJB 3.0 supported technology-based application platform. IBM Smart Business Development and Test on the IBM Cloud Beta

IBM is offering open, free access to the beta version of the IBM Development and Test Cloud Beta. For a limited period of time, access a range of service image instances that you select. Use the image instances to evaluate the functionality of both the image and service platform. For beta services you can have up to five instances currently running at any point in time.

With the IBM Development and Test Cloud Beta, get rapid self-service provisioning, high payback through reduced costs, error reduction, and accelerated application development through on-demand provisioning.

Get started

To start developing on the IBM Development and Test Cloud, you'll need to set up an account. See "Setting up an account" in the IBM Developer Cloud User Guide for directions.

Go to the IBM Development and Test Cloud Beta to register and access WebSphere Application Server and Rational Agent Controller.

Note: When you register to use the WebSphere Application Server running in the IBM Development and Test Beta cloud you get access to several products and demo databases intalled and pre-configured in the machine image.

Use no charge development AMI

Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) can develop applications on Amazon EC2 using the WebSphere Application Server development Amazon Machine Image (AMI). The WebSphere Application Server AMI is available at the low cost of your Amazon Web Services usage, with no time limits, and support provided through an online forum. There is no fee from IBM for the AMI.

Go to Amazon to register and access the WebSphere Application Server V7.0.0.7 development AMI.

Use production-ready AMI

Use WebSphere Application Server AMI at an hourly rate. Amazon Web Services offers a low-cost, pay as you go model with no long-term commitments and no minimum fees.

Purchase a product license for use on AWS

Another option is to use your own product licenses. You can install and run IBM programs on the Amazon EC2 Web service using program licenses obtained from IBM on a Processor Value Unit (PVU) basis. Read PVUs required for Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud for more information.
