* WebSphere Application Server is installed using IBM Installation Manager. After downloading and installing IBM Installation Manager, use it to connect to an IBM-hosted remote repository and install the trial product and selected fixes.
** Alternatively, you can use Download Director or HTTP to download IBM Installation Manager and product repository archives to create local repositories. Use this method if you do not have a high-speed internet connection or you want to create an installation repository on your own machine or on the network within your corporate firewall for machines that do not have access to the internet.

IBM WebSphere SDK Java Technology Edition v7: A full-function Software Development Kit for Java, compliant with the Oracle® Java SE 7 application programming interfaces (APIs). This SDK only is available for installation and use with all editions of WebSphere Application Server V8.5.x, WebSphere DMZ Secure Proxy Server v8.5.x, and WebSphere Application Clients v8.5.x.
WebSphere Application Server supplements, which includes:
- IBM HTTP Server: This full featured web server is based on Apache HTTP Server. It offers easy installation, support for SSL, a graphical certificate management tool, and additional serviceability enhancements.
- Web Server Plug-ins for WebSphere Application Server: These plug-ins enable the Web server to communicate requests for dynamic content, such as servlets, to the application server.
- WebSphere Customization Toolbox: Includes tools for managing, configuring, and migrating various parts of your WebSphere Application Server environment.
- Application Client for WebSphere Application Server: Includes a J2EE client application and a thin client application for use with WebSphere Application Server.
- IBM Thin Client for EJB: Replaces the Pluggable Application Client, which is deprecated.
