Mountain States Health Alliance (MSHA), a large integrated health system primarily serving Eastern Tennessee and Southwestern Virginia, wanted to the ability to adapt to changes. The second-largest hospital in the system Johnston Memorial Hospital, this community hospital moved to a newly built facility soon after the health system began this journey. They desired flexibility amid health reform and reimbursement shifts—flexibility that would allow them to remain cost efficient and improve on their quality and satisfaction metrics.
