The next cohort of target audiences and key customers is Generation Z. This group of consumers was born after 1995; eight full years after U2’s The Joshua Tree album was released – how’s that for sobering context?!
They comprise 26% of the United States population, and contribute $44 billion to the economy despite many of their legion not being able to legally drive. By 2020, one-third of the American populace will be Generation Z.
Born into a world that is manifestly global, with technology at every turn, this group expects more from brands, and interacts differently with companies and organizations.
Simply put, you cannot use your Baby Boomer, Gen X, Millennials playbook to effectively reach Generation Z. You must reinvent and reimagine large swaths of your content, social, customer experience, and customer service to meet the expectations of this burgeoning cohort.
And that’s not easy.
Which is why I’m delighted to be hosting a Webinar on April 6 with my friends at IBM where we’ll help crack the riddle of Gen Z engagement.
April 6, 2017 at 1pm ET
We’ll cover proven ways to drive customer engagement, including how cognitive technology and insights can help marketers make more informed decisions about the wants and needs of Gen Z and future generations.
We’ll also cover specific tools, tips, and technologies to take your customer engagement from good to great among the customers of the future (and present).
The Webinar is April 6 at 1pm ET.
I’m the host of the Webinar, and will be contributing my thoughts on the interplay between technology, data, and customer experience. Plus, with two, teenage members of Gen Z in my household I’m living this challenge of engagement with future generations every day!
I’ll be joined by Jay Henderson, Director of IBM Marketing Cloud. Jay will talk about how to use technology to remove friction and frustration (e.g. real-time personalization).
Paul Walsh, Director of IBM Cognitive Weather Strategy, will also be part of Customer Engagement in the Age of Gen Z, and will showcase how new sources of data can help brands create hyper-relevant experiences that drive massive engagement.
Susan Reda, Editor of STORES Media, will join us to share insights on what exactly makes Generation Z tick, including how this group is poised to influence future buying habits.
This is a topic that impacts EVERY company. I hope you’ll RSVP now for our April 6 Webinar: Customer Engagement in the Age of Gen Z. It will be worth your time.
And, for MUCH more on this and related topics, get yourself to IBM Amplify 2017. It’s the ultimate hybrid of technology and marketing. March 20-22 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
