Phill Powell has been writing about the evolution of computer technology and consumer electronics for decades. Prior to his work with IBM, he authored software-companion books for Microsoft, and worked extensively in online publishing for an educational interest—researching, writing and formatting hundreds of blog posts on a wide range of subjects. Powell’s “pre-digital” background contains multiple staff assignments on consumer and trade publications. This experience includes magazines dedicated to early multimedia (CD-ROM Today!), one of the first periodicals about massively multiplayer online games (ePlay), and the five-year editorship of a nationally distributed firefighting/rescue/EMS magazine. His feature articles have appeared in publications as diverse as Nintendo Power, Our State and Touched by Cancer. He lives in RTP in North Carolina with his wife, three guitars, one cat…and entirely too much physical media.
