Installing Watson Knowledge Catalog add-on

You can install the IBM® Watson™ Knowledge Catalog add-on on top of IBM Cloud Pak for Data.

Installing the lite version

About this task

Watson Knowledge Catalog for Cloud Pak for Data is entitled with Cloud Pak for Data for Data Enterprise Edition.

Procedure

  1. SSH into the master node (master-1) of your cluster as root: ssh root@MASTER_1_IP.
  2. Change to the /modules directory in your installer files partition. For example, /ibm/modules.
  3. Use the mkdir command to create a subdirectory called wkc.
  4. Download the IBM Watson Knowledge Catalog V2.0 from IBM Passport Advantage (under the Cloud Pak for Data eAssembly).
    The filename is WKC_ICP4D_V2.0.bin.
    Note: For the Cloud Native Edition and System Edition, the filename reflects the edition that it is for. Use this filename in the steps below in place of WKC_ICP4D_V2.0.bin
  5. Change to the directory where the file was downloaded (/ibm/modules) and make the bin file executable:
    chmod +x WKC_ICP4D_V2.0.bin
  6. Run the bin file:
    ./WKC_ICP4D_V2.0.bin

    This downloads the wkc-icp4d.tar file to the /ibm/modules directory.

  7. Move the wkc-icp4d.tar file to the wkc subdirectory:
    mv /ibm/modules/wkc-icp4d.tar /ibm/modules/wkc/
  8. Extract the modules from wkc-icp4d.tar:
    tar xvf wkc-icp4d.tar
    This extracts the following modules:
    • icpd-common-core-services-addon.tar
    • 0075-wkc-lite-module.tar
    • wkc-shaper-module.tar
  9. Change to the /ibm/InstallPackage/components directory.
  10. Run the deploy.sh script on the three modules:
    • ./deploy.sh /ibm/modules/wkc/icpd-common-core-services-addon.tar
    • ./deploy.sh /ibm/modules/wkc/0075-wkc-lite-module.tar
    • ./deploy.sh /ibm/modules/wkc/wkc-shaper-module.tar
  11. Confirm that the add-on is deployed.
    1. Click Add-ons (Add-ons icon) in the Cloud Pak for Data web user interface.
    2. From the list of add-ons, locate the Watson Knowledge Catalog tile.
    3. Verify that the tile says Enabled.

Installing the professional version

Before you begin

You must install the lite version of Watson Knowledge Catalog before you install the professional version.

About this task

Watson Knowledge Catalog Pro is a premium add-on that requires an additional entitlement.

Procedure

  1. SSH into the master node (master-1) of your cluster as root: ssh root@MASTER_1_IP.
  2. Change to the /modules directory in your installer files partition. For example, /ibm/modules.
  3. Use the mkdir command to create a subdirectory called wkc.
  4. Download the IBM Watson Knowledge Catalog V2.0 from IBM Passport Advantage (under the Cloud Pak for Data eAssembly).
    The filename is WKC_Pro_for_ICP4D_V2.0.bin.
  5. Change to the directory where the file was downloaded (/ibm/modules) and make the bin file executable:
    chmod +x WKC_Pro_for_ICP4D_V2.0.bin
  6. Run the bin file:
    ./WKC_Pro_for_ICP4D_V2.0.bin

    This downloads the wkc-pro.tar file to the /ibm/modules directory.

  7. Move the wkc-pro.tar file to the wkc subdirectory:
    mv /ibm/modules/wkc-pro.tar /ibm/modules/wkc/
  8. Extract the modules from wkc-pro.tar:
    tar xvf wkc-pro.tar
    This extracts the following modules:
    • 0080-wkc-pro-prereqs-module.tar
    • 0085-wkc-pro-module.tar
  9. Change to the /ibm/InstallPackage/components directory.
  10. Run the deploy.sh script on the following modules:
    • ./deploy.sh /ibm/modules/wkc/0080-wkc-pro-prereqs-module.tar
    • ./deploy.sh /ibm/modules/wkc/0085-wkc-pro-module.tar
  11. Confirm that the add-on is deployed.
    1. Click Add-ons icon (Add-ons icon) in the Cloud Pak for Data web user interface.
    2. From the list of add-ons, locate the Watson Knowledge Catalog tile.
    3. Verify that the tile says Premium.
