Zero Suppression Fails to Suppress a Zero Value

General Page

This Technote explains why zero suppression may not suppress a row or column that appears to be empty.

The TM1/Planning Analytics server has two values for each cell, a formatted and unformatted value.  The formatted value is displayed in the Planning Analytics clients.  It is possible to examine the unformatted value using the Trace Calculation feature in Architect and Perspectives cube viewer.

Trace Calculation will display the value of the cell as it's stored by the Planning Analytics server.

Zero suppression is based on the unformatted cell value, and will only suppress if the unformatted value is exactly zero.  If the cell contains a non zero value such as 0.0000001, but displays a formatted value of 0.00, the cell will not be suppressed.  If the cell value is based on a rule or populated by a CELLPUTN function in a Ti process, then rounding using the ROUND or ROUNDP function may be required in order to ensure that a calculated value close is stored in the cell as an exactr zero.
