XUL Runner Render Engine For RBD

Abstract

Error in opening RUI editor with XUL Runner as render engine. 
This paper details the approach possible for this scenario.

Prerequisites

  • IBM Rational Business Developer (RBD).

Steps to configure Mozilla XUL Runner as the render engine for the visual editor:

  1. Download XUL Runner runtime for OS from     
    http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/xulrunner/releases/
  2. Unzip the XUL Runner.
  3. Add the below line to the -vmargs section in the eclipse.ini file.
    -Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser. XULRunnerPath = PATH_TO_XULRunner
  4. Start EDT
  5. Open Window --> Preferences --> EGL --> Rich UI --> Appearance and make sure to select "Mozilla XUL Runner"

NOTE:

  1. Only 32-bit RBD supports Mozilla XUL Runner. The 64- bit RBD does not support Mozilla XUL Runner. For 64-bit RBD, the result can only be previewed outside of RBD with a browser like Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.
  2. If XUL Runner is discontinued, it is recommended to use chromium for RBD 9.6 and newer versions.
