XPT Record Requirements
Proprietary format files must be terminated with a XPT record that meets the following layout requirements:

| None | Record Code | 001-003 | 03 | XPT identifies the XPT interchange trailer record. Required. |
| XPT-01 | Number of Records | 004-012 | 09 | Number of records in the interchange excluding the XPH and XPT. Optional. |
| XPT-02 | Interchange Control Number | 013-026 | 14 | Unique interchange identifier assigned by the sender. Required. Note: This number must match the number in the XPH-08 interchange control number field. |
| XPT-03 | Filler | 027-132 | 106 | Any characters such as blanks. Optional. |
| XPT-04 | Variable Record Separator Character | 133 | 01 | The record terminator character marking the end of the variable-length record. Required if the XPH-11 field is V. Optional if the XPH-11 field is F. Note: This value must match the value in the XPH-14 Variable Record Separator Character field. |
