Working Calendar Page
Use the Working Calendar page to define a schedule foryour facilities. Sterling TMS usesthe working calendar as the default schedule for all your locations.When you define each location you can specify a different work weekcalendar for that facility.
Defining Location Work Week Defaults
Usethe Working Calendar page to define the daily schedule and time zonefor your locations:
- The default schedule is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Fridayand closed Saturday and Sunday.
- The default time zone is Central Time.
To specify that your locations are closed for a day set thetimes to dashes:

Selecting Holidays
Usethe following buttons on the Working Calendar page to add or removecompany holidays:
- Add
Opens the Add Holiday page where you specify a date that yourlocations are closed. Sterling TMS does not provideany default holidays.
- Remove
Deletes a holiday that your organization defined.
Managing Appointment Restrictions
Youcan set up default dock appointment restrictions on the Working Calendarpage.
The settings you define here are the defaults for allyour locations. You can define an operational calendar and other dockappointment options when you define each location.
You can definethe following appointment restrictions for your Working Calendar:
- Default Dock Lead Time Option
Define how far in advance of the pickup or delivery that yourequire carriers to make an appointment.
For example:
- You set the lead time requirement to 4 hours.
- You have a shipment with a planned departure window of 2 p.m.to 6 p.m. on 29 June.
- The carrier must make a pickup appointment before 10 a.m. on 29June (4 hours before the start of the planned departure window).
By default there is no dock lead time requirement.
- Default Dock Plan Window Option
Specify whether carrier appointments are restricted basedon the planned departure or arrival window of a shipment.
Selectone of the following options:
- Ignore plan window
- Sterling TMS doesnot restrict carrier appointment times based on the planned departureor arrival window. The carrier can make an appointment that is outsideof the planned window.
- Must be within plan window
- The appointment time must be within the start and end of the planneddeparture or arrival window.
- Must not precede plan window
- The appointment time must be the same as or later than the startof the planned window.
- Must not follow plan window
- The appointment time must be the same as or earlier than the endof the planned window.
By default Sterling TMS ignores theplanned departure and arrival windows when processing appointments.
- Default Dock Calendar Option
Define which calendar Sterling TMS uses to calculatethe Default Dock Lead Time Option:
- Work Week Calendar
- Sterling TMS usesthe work week calendar for each location to determine dock appointmentrequirements.
- Operational calendar
- Sterling TMS usesthe operational calendar rules for each location to determine dockappointment requirements.
Note: You can only set the Default DockCalendar Option if you define a lead-time requirementin Default Dock Lead Time Option.
