Windows (NT) Authentication and RequisitePro SQL Server databases

Question & Answer

Question

Can Windows (NT) authentication be used to authenticate to an IBM Rational RequisitePro database?

Answer

No. Windows (NT) authentication can not be used to authenticate to an RequisitePro database.

  • RequisitePro expects that the ReqPro user will be used and that SQL Server authentication will be used. This is what RequisitePro was developed and tested on.
  • If you try and use only NT authentication you may run into problems.
  • NT authentication is not supported for RequisitePro SQL Server databases.

Note: A SQL Administrator may set up mixed authentication, however, mixed authentication is SQL Server and Windows Authentication. This method will allow NT accounts to be associated with the SQL Server. SQL Roles may be associated with NT accounts. This method is supported, whereas on NT Authentication is not.
