Problem
This technote explains why the error, "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item", might occur when using IBM® Rational® ClearCase® on Microsoft® Windows® to open a file in a dynamic view.
Symptom
Attempts to open files in a dynamic view on Windows results in the following error:
Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item.
