WinCollect Stand-alone Patch Installer: How to install the Microsoft .NET 3.5 framework

Troubleshooting

Problem

The WinCollect Stand-alone Patch Installer contains a user interface that requires Microsoft .NET 3.5. This technical note provides information on how to install/enable the .NET 3.5 framework for different Microsoft operating systems.

Symptom

If the WinCollect Configuration Console does not display properly, administrators should verify that .NET 3.5 is installed on the local Windows system. For most operating systems, the .NET 3.5 framework is included, but not installed locally by default. In older operating systems, administrators might be required to install the .NET 3.5 framework.

Cause

Administrators who want to install the WinCollect Configuration Console user interface that is bundled with the WinCollect Stand-alone Patch Installer must have the Microsoft's.NET 3.5 framework installed. If the .NET 3.5 framework is not installed or enabled as a Windows feature, the following error is displayed during installation:
