Why is RTF lost when merging Rhapsody model elements in DiffMerge?

Troubleshooting

Problem

When merging two text fields of a Rational Rhapsody model element by using the merge tool, Rational Rhapsody Diffmerge, rich text formatting (RTF) is lost.

Symptom

Text fields (such as the "Description" field of a package) that contain information that would be applied to text, such as fonts, font size, bold, italic, and similar is lost when merging one version of that model element with another using Rhapsody DiffMerge.
